Established as a charity for global outreach in 1979, the Institute of Commercial Management (ICM) is the leading professional body for commercial and business development staff. ICM provides a wide range of professional qualifications in business, management and related vocational areas. Our programmes are designed to address and respond to the training needs as well as the personal development of earners, whether entering or continuing to work within the wide and varied commercial sector. ICM exhibits best practice in responding to the academic and vocational needs of learners by regular liaison and structured feedback mechanisms. We strive to implement rigour in the award of credit, inclusive in assessment and examination, accuracy and efficiency in the certification of all our learners undertaking business, management and related vocational education programmes.
ICM provides qualifications that are recognised globally and in excess of two million ICM Awards have been issued to successful candidates over the past 30 years.
The Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF)
The Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) is a single framework introduced in 2015 for describing all regulated qualifications in England. It provides information about the level of challenge and the size of each qualification, showing where a qualification sits in relation to others in terms of level and size. ICM offers single subject qualifications and professional qualifications.

History of ABE
ABE was founded by Dr. Lyndon Jones in 1973.
His vision was to bring high quality affordable business qualifications to those who had limited access to education.
Lyndon had a long and distinguished career in the UK Higher Education sector. He worked in Britain, Western Europe, South East Asia, the USA and Africa. He authored a number of books and was published extensively in the press. Lyndon was influential in shaping education policy having served on numerous committees including the Business Education Council, the Council for the Accreditation of Correspondence Colleges, BBC Further Education Advisory Committee, British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education, and the International Federation for Training and Development Organizations to name but a few. In recognition of Lyndon’s outstanding services to education, he was awarded the Management and HRD Excellence Award from ARTDO.
Lyndon established ABE as a not for profit organization dedicated to the intellectual, social and economic development of individuals and communities through the provision of relevant, high-quality, affordable qualifications. In pursuit of this, he travelled extensively to meet with students, colleges and senior government officials across the world.
Lyndon retired in 2015 but continues to advise ABE to this day. He is fondly remembered by staff, centers and learners.
OTHM is a not-for-profit organization. OTHM was incorporated in 2003 in England & Wales. We are a UK based Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) and recognised by Qualifications Wales. We have a wide global network of delivery centres to deliver our range of management and leadership qualifications and programmes in a wide variety of industries and sectors.
We always aim to develop as an organisation that is forward-thinking in order to support industry by providing excellent qualifications enabling a highly qualified and experienced workforce.
Approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation)
Ofqual is responsible for maintaining standards and confidence in qualifications. Ofqual looks after GCSEs and A levels in England, and a wide range of vocational qualifications in England. Ofqual also regulates the National Curriculum Assessments in England. OTHM is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation).
Recognised by Qualifications Wales
Qualifications Wales is a Welsh Government Sponsored Body but independent from the Welsh Government in relation to its qualifications functions for which is directly accountable to the National Assembly for Wales. It is responsible for the regulation of awarding bodies and the quality assurance of qualifications in Wales. It is charge with ensuring that qualifications in Wales are fit for purpose, that the qualification system in Wales is efficient and effective and that there is public confidence in qualifications in Wales. Full member of Federation of Awarding bodies (FAB)
FAB is the trade association for vocational awarding bodies in the UK which represents the interests of over 110 awarding bodies by liaising with key stakeholders, including the regulators, government departments and funding agencies. FAB also provides information, advice and guidance to its members to support them in providing high quality and valued vocational qualifications. OTHM is a full member of FAB
Academic Partnerships and Recognitions
OTHM has established strong academic relationships in the UK and overseas to ensure that OTHM qualifications are recognised globally. The local and international recognition has enabled OTHM graduates to enhance their employability skills as well as allowing them to join degree and/or Master top-up programmes
The Scottish Qualifications Authority is the executive non-departmental public body of the Scottish Government responsible for accrediting educational awards. It’s strategic direction is developed by our Board of Management and its committees. It is approved by Scottish Ministers.
